• It was as if I heard the Lord audibly call me to serve Him. I was sitting passively in the back of the 8th grade Sunday school classroom when God grabbed my attention through the teaching of His Word by a faithful volunteer youth worker. That day, roughly 35 years ago, began a journey...a journey that continues to this day. I began that journey alone but now I share it with my sweet wife Julie and 3 awesome kids. I've been serving as Sr. Pastor since July 2015 and my main joy and passion in ministry is to equip the church through preaching the Bible as well as to strengthen and affirm Gospel-centered marriages.

Outside of work you'll either find me goofing around with my family, on a motorcycle, looking for elk or breaking something in my shop.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me and I hope you'll visit this awesome little church in Yacolt and let us get to know you!

  • Elders

Dr. Bob & Kathy Vogel recently moved back to the NW after Bob retired from teaching Homiletics at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Kentucky.  Dr. Bob also teaches our Expositors Bible Class on Sunday mornings.  You can often find the warm smile of Kathy serving at potlucks or other special events.

Rob & Linda Dore have been part of our church for the last couple of years, after he retired from pastoring a church in Cougar, WA. We have enjoyed their fellowship. Rob has been an integral part of our new building committee. Linda will be found up front most Sundays blessing us with her bass guitar playing.

Andy & Jane Poole have been with us for a few years. Andy has a heart for missions and has served with Operation Mobilization and has travel with a team to Mexico. Jane enjoys teaching children and is involved with our Jesus and Me (JAM) ministry.

  • Noah MillerWorship Intern

I have been on staff at Yacolt Community Church since 2018 and am currently serving in the Worship Intern position.

I have gone to church at Yacolt Community since I was a young kid. I have always loved the warm and friendly atmosphere here. I accepted Christ at a young age, was baptized at fifteen, and became a member of the church when I was seventeen years old.

Each week, my duties include working with our Worship Team Leaders to plan our weekly Worship services, organizing a fantastic team of musical volunteers, running music rehearsals, and playing with the Worship Team on Sunday mornings. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to serve in this position and can not wait to see what God has in store for the future of YCC and our Worship ministry.

Outside of the work that I do here at YCC, I have found a recent interest in theater after performing at a benefit concert led by my vocal instructor, working as the yearbook editor at Battle Ground High School, and owning and running my own car detailing business.

  • Carrie Bladow  - Administrative Assistant

My husband, Todd, and I have been part of YCC for 27 years. We have raised our family here and have grown to love the community. We both grew up in Vancouver and took day and camping trips out to this area. We were blessed to be able to build a house in Yacolt and make it our home.

God has given me a passion for people! I love to listen to people’s stories and pray with them when they are hurting. He has also given me a love for organizing and taking care of details. For the past few years I have been privileged to work in the office and do what I love.

I have done many jobs and participated in different ministries over the years, but I am always amazed at how God takes what little I have and uses it to further His kingdom and helps me grow along the way.

Spreading God's Word

Our church was planted in the fall of 1959 with a few families who had the simple goal of reaching those far from Christ. With the help of these people committed to seeing that dream fulfilled, the church has steadily grown through the years.

Our Beliefs

At our church, you will hear the word “gospel” repeatedly because it is the most important truth that we can know and experience. The gospel is not merely a message that needs to be shared with non-Christians, but also with Christians. It is not something that mature Christians move on from, but rather something that they move deeper into. The gospel is the lens in which we should view theology, ministry, and all aspects of life.

The Apostle Paul defined the word “gospel” concisely in 1st Corinthians 15:3-5 when he wrote, “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.” Simply put, the gospel is all about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, and the implications it has for us.
